Walther Rodler

Walther Rodler (born February 2, 1867 in Vienna ; † December 24, 1931 there ) was an Austrian politician .

Life

Walther Rodler, the son of a lawyer , studied law at the University of Vienna from 1885 to 1889 , and obtained a doctorate in law in 1890. In the same year he began to work for the Kaiser-Ferdinands-Nordbahn , and in 1901 changed to the management of the Wiener Stadtbahn .

In 1903 he received a position in the Ministry of Railways, today's Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology . Here Rodler made a name for himself as the head of a handful of departments; among other things, he headed the presidential office. In 1909 he was appointed Section Council; In 1913, Rodler became a Ministerialrat . Chancellor Johann Schober appointed him Federal Minister of Transport in 1921, an office he held until 1922. One of his challenges was the development of the Austrian railway network after the end of the First World War .

Walther Rodler never belonged to a political party; he also never held a mandate in the Austrian National Council .

After leaving office as minister, he became vice-president of the board of the Aspang Railway Company in 1922 .

He died in December 1931, at the age of 64.
