Friedrich Wilhelm Karl Graf von Brühl (born May 15, 1788 in Munich , † July 19, 1867 in Dirmstein ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Wilhelm comes from the Saxon-Thuringian noble family von Brühl . He was the son of Major General Albert Christian Heinrich von Brühl (1743–1792) and his wife Laura Maria Walpurgis, née Countess von Minucci (1759–1824), the daughter of the Bavarian Lieutenant General Carl Adolf von Minucci.

Life

Brühl came to Berlin as an apprentice at the Ecole militaire on March 1, 1799, and on March 27, 1805, was employed as an ensign in the von Möllendorff infantry regiment of the Prussian army . During the Fourth Coalition War he fought in the Battle of Auerstedt and was made inactive after the surrender of Erfurt .

After the war , Brühl advanced to secondary lieutenant at the end of January 1808 and on July 15, 1809, with a patent dated December 26, 1807, was aggregated to the 1st West Prussian Infantry Regiment . For further training he graduated from the General War School in 1810/12 and has since been assigned to the regiment. At the beginning of September 1813 he was employed as an adjutant to Colonel von Jagow and in this position Brühl rose to prime lieutenant in mid-November 1813 before joining the adjutant's office at the end of the month. During the Wars of Liberation he fought near Großgörschen , Bautzen , Dresden , Bunzlau , Dippoldiswalde , Nollendorf , Reims , Wavre , Namur and the sieges of Philippeville , Montmédy and Givet . For Leipzig , Brühl received the Iron Cross II. Class and the Order of St. Vladimir VI. Class and for Ligny the Iron Cross 1st Class. At that time he was promoted to staff captain on April 6, 1814 .

After the war, on June 7, 1815, he became captain and in 1817 adjutant of the troop brigade in Breslau . As a major , Brühl was assigned to the Austrian army in Italy at the end of January 1821. From late March 1827 to late March 1833 he was adjutant at the General Command of the V Army Corps in Posen . Brühl then served as battalion commander in the 7th Infantry Regiment , received the Order of St. Stanislaus II in 1835 and advanced to lieutenant colonel at the end of March 1837 . A year later he was initially assigned to lead the 40th Infantry Regiment and on January 24, 1839, Brühl was appointed regimental commander. In this position promoted to colonel on March 30, 1839, Brühl received command of the 13th Landwehr Brigade on August 9, 1842 and was aggregated into the 40th Infantry Regiment on September 5. As a major general , he became commander of the 12th Infantry Brigade in Neisse on July 20, 1848 . On December 4, 1849, Brühl was given the character of Lieutenant General and was put up for disposal as Lieutenant General with a pension .

On March 1, 1855, Brühl was appointed President of the Prussian General Order Commission. From May 5, 1860, he had to interrupt this activity for a five-month vacation. He was released from his position on April 29, 1863 when he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle First Class with Oak Leaves. He died on July 19, 1867 in Dirmstein in the Palatinate.

Brühl married Charlotte Elise von Tschirschky-Reichel (1800-1825) on October 21, 1824 in Domslau . She was the daughter of Major Karl Konrad Leopold Joachim von Tschirschky and Bögendorff and his wife Charlotte, née Freiin von Reichel. After the death of his first wife, he married Henriette von Camuzi (1803-1883) on July 25, 1839, a daughter of the Privy Councilor Joseph von Camuzi (1767-1828) and sister of Gideon von Camuzi .

Both marriages remained childless.
