The best seven players of 2011 on the Challenger Tour and the Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci , who received a wildcard from the organizer, qualified .
The game was played in two groups of four in the so-called round robin procedure, where each player competes once against all other players in the same group. The best two players in each group qualified for the final round, which was played in the knockout system, with the group winner playing against the runners-up in the other group.
