The Rai Open 2011 was the 3rd edition of the tennis clay court tournament in Rome . It was part of the ATP Challenger Tour 2011 and was held from April 11th to 17th, 2011.

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. For the individual tournament, a qualification round with 16 participants took place in advance, in which four participants were able to qualify for the main field. The Austrian Martin Fischer , who was seeded eighth, canceled his participation in advance. For him, the Croat Nikola Mektić moved into the main field as a lucky loser . The total prize money for the event was 30,000 euros.

The winner of the individual competition was the unseeded Dutchman Thomas Schoorel , who defeated the unseeded Slovak Martin Kližan in three sets in the final. It was Schoorel's first single career Challenger title . Last year's winner Filippo Volandri from Italy did not defend the title.

Kližan was also in the final of the doubles competition: with his partner Alessandro Motti from Italy, he won it against the Italian wildcard owners Thomas Fabbiano and Walter Trusendi in straight sets. This was Kližan's first success in a double tournament in the Challenger category of his career. For Motti it was the eleventh double title on the ATP Challenger Tour and his second success at this tournament. Last year's Polish winners Tomasz Bednarek and Mateusz Kowalczyk did not defend their title in this constellation. While Kowalczyk did not take part in the tournament at all this year, Bednarek and his partner Andreas Siljeström from Sweden were eliminated in the quarter-finals.
