The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. For the individual competition there was a qualifying round with 16 players, through which four players could qualify for the main field. The total prize money for the event was 42,500 euros.
The winner of the individual competition was the top seeded Italian Andreas Seppi , who defeated the fourth seeded Luxembourg Gilles Müller in three sets after falling behind. It was Seppi's second success at the Bergamo tournament, which he won for the first time in 2008. It was also the fourth individual Challenger title of his career and the first of the season. For Müller it was the second defeat in the final in Bergamo in a row. Last year's winner Karol Beck failed this year in second place in the first round.
In doubles, the unseeded pairing consisting of the Dane Frederik Nielsen and the British Ken Skupski won the final against the also unseeded Russians Mikhail Jelgin and Alexander Kudrjawzew . They benefited from an injury to Kudrjawzew, who injured himself in the semifinals of the individual competition against the eventual winner and so could not compete in the double finals. It was Nielsen's 14th double win in a Challenger tournament of his career and the second of the season. For Skupski it was the eighth tournament win in doubles in this category and the first of the season. It was their first joint title. Defending champions Jonathan Marray and Jamie Murray did not participate in the competition this year.
In the run-up to the tournament, there was an injury-related cancellation. Somdev Devvarman , who was placed fifth , could not take part in the individual competition, which meant that Alberto Brizzi moved into the main field as a lucky loser .
