Albignasego is an Italian commune with 26,540 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Padua in the Veneto region . It belongs to the Padua metropolitan area. The municipality is located 9 km south of the provincial capital Padua and 46 km west of Venice .

The neighboring municipalities are Abano Terme , Casalserugo , Maserà di Padova , Padova and Ponte San Nicolò .

People settled in the area of ​​the municipality of Albignasego as early as the Bronze Age. At the time of the Romans the place belonged administratively to Padua.
