Castelbaldo is a north-eastern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 1463 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Padua in Veneto . The municipality is located about 45 kilometers southwest of Padua on the Adige and borders the provinces of Rovigo and Verona . The small river Fratta forms the northern boundary of the municipality.

history

In 1292 the community was established with the construction of a castle. In the "League of Castelbaldo" several north Italian princely families united against the Papal States and Bohemia. In 1694 the castle was demolished by the Republic of Venice.
