The Antigua Barracuda FC , short Antigua Barracuda was a football team from Saint John's , Antigua and Barbuda . The club was founded in 2010 and played in the USL Professional Division from 2011 to 2013 .
The "Barracudas" were the first professional football club from Antigua and Barbuda . The country has its own league, but this only has the status of an amateur league.
history
The Antigua Barracuda FC should originally compete in the USL First Division. After the restructuring of the United Soccer Leagues league system , this was changed. This was announced on September 23, 2010. Barracuda plays in the International Division of the USL Professional Division. The team's first coach was Billy McEwan from Scotland. This was replaced by the Englishman Tom Curtis.
The first official game took place in April 2010 against Puerto Rico Islanders FC . The game was lost 1: 3. The first league game in the USL Pro was played on April 17, 2011 against Los Angeles Blues SC . The team lost 2-1. The first official goal in the club's history was scored by Tamorley Thomas .
In the 2013 season, the team lost each of their 26 games. After the season, the team was disbanded due to the poor financial situation.
Stadion
The Antigua Barracuda FC played its home games at the Stanford Cricket Ground (after an adjacent restaurant complex also called "Sticky Wicket Stadium") in the place Osbourn on the Parish of Saint George . The stadium was originally built for the Stanford 20/20 cricket tournament .
