The Düsseldorf motorway ring is a ring road that surrounds the city of Düsseldorf . This ring motorway , which is almost 70 kilometers long , consists of the A 3 , A 44 , A 46 and A 57 federal motorways .

location

The motorway ring is partly inside and outside the urban area of Düsseldorf . In the north, the motorway ring runs as the A 44 along the borders of the Düsseldorf districts of Stockum , Unterrath , Lichtenbroich , Rath and the urban area of Ratingen . In addition, the ESPRIT arena and Düsseldorf Airport are located directly on the motorway. The A 3 crosses the Hubbelrath district of Düsseldorf and connects the neighboring city of Erkrath to the ring. Hilden is connected to the corner of the ring, the Hilden motorway junction . Furthermore, the A 46 runs as a southern bypass within the Düsseldorf urban area through the suburbs of Unterbach , Eller , Holthausen , Bilk and Wersten . The neighboring cities of Neuss and Meerbusch are also connected to the Düsseldorf motorway ring via the A 57 .

construction

The Düsseldorf motorway ring consists of a total of four federal motorways: The north bypass consists of the section from the Meerbusch motorway junction to the Ratingen-Ost junction of the A 44 , which comes from Aachen and continues to Velbert . The Osttangente forms the section from the Ratingen-Ost motorway junction to the Hilden motorway junction , which is part of the A 3 coming from Duisburg and Oberhausen and leading to Cologne and Frankfurt am Main . The A 46 , which comes from Heinsberg and continues to Hagen , forms the Südtangente motorway junction Hilden - Autobahn triangle Neuss-Süd . The west bypass consists of the section Neuss- Süd– Autobahnkreuz Neuss-West , which is part of both the A 46 and the A 57 leading from Nijmegen to Cologne , and the section from the Neuss-West interchange to the Meerbusch interchange, the marked as part of the A 57 .

At the north bypass there is also a connection to the A 52 , which leads from Essen and temporarily ends in the north of Düsseldorf. In the south of the motorway ring road, the A 59 in the direction of Leverkusen begins at the Düsseldorf-Süd motorway triangle . At the Kaarst motorway junction, the A 57 crosses the A 52 from Roermond as a western bypass , which is then interrupted to the east in the Düsseldorf city area.
