Benjamin Cureton

Benjamin Cureton , often Ben Cureton , (* 11 February 1981 in Perth ) is an Australian lightweight - rowers .

Career

Cureton began rowing in 1996, and in 1999 he finished fourth in a quadruple scull at the Junior World Championships . In 2000 he achieved his first World Cup victory with the Australian lightweight eighth , and at the 2000 World Rowing Championships he won the bronze medal with eighth. From 2001 Cureton rowed in the Australian lightweight four without a helmsman , with which he finished fourth at the 2002 World Championships . At the 2004 Olympic Games , the lightweight foursome won the silver medal with Glen Loftus , Anthony Edwards , Benjamin Cureton and Simon Burgess . After a sixth place with the four at the 2006 World Championships , a seventh place at the 2007 World Championships and a ninth place at the 2008 Olympic Games . In 2011 Cureton returned after a long break in the foursome and won the title at the World Championships in Bled together with Samuel Beltz , Anthony Edwards and Todd Skipworth . In the final of the Olympic Regatta 2012 , the Australian lightweight four finished fourth.

The 1.84 m tall Cureton rows for the Swan River Rowing Club . He works as a personal trainer .
