Borki Predojević (born April 6, 1987 in Teslić , Yugoslavia ) is a chess player from Bosnia and Herzegovina .

Youth chess

He learned to play chess at the age of eight. He celebrated his greatest successes in chess in Greece: in 1999 he was U12 European champion , 2001 U14 European champion and 2003 U16 world champion .

Tournaments

Predojević was very successful in rating tournaments such as First Saturday in Budapest (first IM tournament shared in 2002, first IM tournament in 2003, first GM tournament in 2004) and Third Saturday in Novi Sad (first place in 2002). In 2006 he won the Metalis Open in Bizovac, Croatia, in 2007 he won the Zagreb Open. At the Bosnian individual championship in 2007 in Sarajevo , he was second behind Predrag Nikolić . In 2008 he won the 13th Hit Open in Nova Gorica , and in 2009 the Acropolis Open in Chalkida .

Title and Elo

He has been International Master (IM) since 2003 and Grand Master (GM) since May 2005 . He met the GM standards in 2004, namely in July at the First Saturday GM tournament in Budapest, in September at the team championship of Serbia and Montenegro in Budva and in October at the Chess Olympiad in Calvià . In February 2015, he leads the Bosnian Elo ranking.

National team

For Yugoslavia he took part in the U18 European Championships in 2002 in Balatonlelle , Hungary and was awarded an individual bronze medal for his result of 3 out of 5 on the first reserve board. In 2003 he switched to the Bosnian Chess Federation. For Bosnia and Herzegovina he played at six Chess Olympiads , 2004 in Calvià on the fourth, 2006 in Turin , 2008 in Dresden and 2010 in Chanty-Mansiysk on the second board as well as in 2014 in Tromsø and 2016 in Baku on the first board and scored a total of 42 points 65 games. At the 2018 Chess Olympiad in Batumi , he is the captain of the Austrian national team. He was also registered for the 2007 European Team Championship in Heraklion on the top board of the Bosnian team, but the team did not appear.

Club teams

Predojević played in the Yugoslav, Serbian (for SK ZTP in the 2007/08 season on the top board), Croatian (for ŠK Rijeka ), Hungarian (for ASE Paks ) and Slovenian (for ŽŠK Maribor ) 1st league. In the Bosnian Premijer Liga he has played for ŠK Bosna Sarajevo every season since the league was founded in 2003 and has been team champion eleven times. He also took part in the European Club Cup four times with the ŠK Bosna Sarajevo and, in 2004, achieved second place as the greatest success. In the German 1. Bundesliga , he played in the 2007/08 season for SK Zehlendorf , in the season 2016/17 he plays for the chess society Solingen . In the Austrian Bundesliga , Predojević has been playing for SK Maria Saal since the 2012/13 season and was champion with this in 2016 . In Hungary he played for ASE Paks from 2008 to 2013 , in the Norwegian Eliteserien he has been playing for Vålerenga Sjakklubb since 2013 , with whom he won the championship in 2016 , 2017 , 2018 and 2019 and took part in the European Club Cups in 2016 and 2018. At the European Club Cup 2018 he achieved the second-best individual result on the fifth board.
