The ruin of Tuor Castle is the ruin of a hilltop castle at 1258 m above sea level. M. northwest of Sumvitg in the Swiss canton of Graubünden , above the road to Clavadi.
investment
The heavily overgrown ruins of a tower in the shape of a 7.5 by 5.6 meter rectangle have been preserved. The masonry consists of stock-like hewn stones with a lot of filling material. The strongly embossed corner stones with extremely precise edges are striking . The small usable space inside suggests a wooden projecting superstructure with living spaces. There are no traces of a circular wall or other ancillary structures, but rural buildings can be assumed given the modest dimensions of the tower.
history
There are no written documents about the origins and history of the castle. It is possible that Tuor Castle was inhabited by servants from the Disentis Monastery . Ancestral seat of the Tuor von Sumvitg family, former servants.
Family coat of arms: The Tuor von Sumvitg family has this square tower in silver over a green Dreiberg in their coat of arms, while the Tuor von Brigels line has a round one.
