The tower of Schlans stands in the municipality of Trun in the Swiss canton of Graubünden .
location
The tower stands at 1170 m above sea level. M. above the village center on an elongated rock ridge above the 17th century church Sta. Maria dalla Neiv .
investment
The massive tower, a donjon , with a square base (side length 8.5 meters) and a wall thickness of a good two meters consists of layered rubble stones with large embossed corner cuboids with careful edging. Three floors have been preserved. The restored high entrance is on the southwest side on the 3rd floor. Except for a few narrow notch windows, there are no openings or signs of residential facilities. The actual living rooms are therefore likely to have been in a wooden superstructure. Traces of outbuildings and a bering are missing.
history
The simple tower is likely to have been the seat of a servant from the salons. It is not clear from them whether the documents from the 14th century named Sylans Castle are the tower of Schlans or the larger Salons complex above the village. In 1377 an estate was sold in Schlans for the Quadra Davos Kasteil . The name suggests the square tower rather than the extensive system in salons. For the history of the Schlans rule, see the article on Salons Castle .
