history

The settlement was located around some gold and silver mines (16th and 17th centuries), and the residents were also employed as lumberjacks and charcoal burners. In the 18th and 19th centuries there was a hammer mill here that processed pig iron from the area around Hronec , Pohronská Polhora and Tisovec . In 1828 there were 23 houses and 199 inhabitants. In the late 19th century the inhabitants worked almost exclusively in the Podbrezová ironworks ; In 1896 the community became independent.
