Çağla Büyükakçay (born September 28, 1989 in Adana ) is a Turkish tennis player .
Career
Büyükakçay mainly plays on the ITF Women's Circuit . She was in the final of an ITF tournament 22 times and won nine titles. She has already played 25 finals in doubles and won 14 titles. She also won the Mediterranean Games tennis competition in 2009 and 2013 .
In 2010, Büyükakçay was the first Turkish player to qualify for a Grand Slam tournament at the US Open . On April 24, 2016, she defeated Danka Kovinić in the final of Istanbul with 3: 6, 6: 2 and 6: 3. She became the first Turkish player to win a WTA tournament and reached position 82 in the world rankings . In July she improved again to position 67, after she qualified for a Grand Slam tournament for the first time at the French Open after 20 unsuccessful attempts (three times she was only missing one win to move into the main field) (the out came in round two); for Wimbledon she was directly qualified, but failed in round one.
In April 2004, she competed in Marsa against Romania for the first time for Turkey in the Fed Cup . In the meantime, she has already played 62 Fed Cup games, in which she celebrated 34 wins.
