The Cape Arid National Park (English Cape Arid National Park ) is a 2,798 km² nature reserve in the Australian state of Western Australia . The national park, founded in 1969 , is located on the cape of the same name on the south coast of Western Australia, 120 km east of the city of Esperance . The landscape is characterized by the transition from the vegetation-rich coastal zone on the Great Australian Bay to the dry interior. The flora varies accordingly between wooded and steppe-like regions.
The Cape Arid National Park is of particular importance as a habitat for over 160 species of birds .
In the national park there is a campsite on the Thomas River, which can be reached by non-four-wheel drive vehicles. This is not possible at the other Mount Ragged, Poison Creek and Deal Creek campsites.
