The 2.47 km² Sir James Mitchell National Park (English: Sir James Mitchell National Park ) was found in 1924 under national protection. It is located about 280 kilometers south of Perth in the southwest of the Australian state of Western Australia . The national park is about 14 kilometers south of Manjimup and 15 kilometers northeast of Pemberton . It can be reached via National Highway 1 . There are numerous tall carribrees in the park .
Not far south of the national park is the so-called diamond tree , a 52 meter high karri tree that was used as a fire watch tower. The wooden platform at this height can still be climbed today.
The name of the national park goes back to the Prime Minister James Mitchell (1866-1951) of Western Australia.
