The Gull Rock National Park is a national park in the southern Australian state of Western Australia , 25 km east of Albany . It was opened in 2006 as Western Australias 97th National Park and covers an area of 2593 hectares. The area is north of King George Sound , east of Oyster Harbor and west of Taylor Inlet .
The area is an example of almost untouched coastal vegetation east of the Kalgan River . The country consists of granite foothills interrupted by sandy beaches, lakes and wetlands between dunes, and thus contains a number of special ecosystems. There are granite rocks z. B. Mount Taylor and Mount Martin, both of which are part of the Gardner Land Formation . Endangered bird species live in the park, such as the noise thicket bird ( Atrichornis clamosus ), the long-billed lacquer bird ( Dasyornis longirostris ) and the gray-headed rocking flute ( Psophodes nigrogularis ). As part of a targeted search on the south coast of Western Australia in 2008, specimens of the spider species Austrarchaea mainae , which belongs to the family of Archaeidae and which is classified as endangered in Western Australia, were found in Gull Rock National Park .
In the park you can find banksia and casuarina forests , open heathland and grassy dunes. Of the plant species that occur, Banksia coccinea , Hakea elliptica , Allocasuarina trichodon , Agonis marginata and Dryandra formosa are particularly noteworthy .
