GDR indoor athletics championships 1982

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Martina Steuk set the indoor world best time over 800 meters.

The GDR indoor athletics championships were held for the 19th time in 1982 and took place from February 13th to 14th in the Senftenberg sports hall Aktivist , in which the champions were determined in 26 disciplines (15 men / 11 women).

For men and women, three athletes each ( Mogalle (800 m), Freimuth (high), Weber (staff), Rübsam (400 m), Riemann (3000 m) and Knabe (60 m hurdles)) won their title from the previous year to defend. With six championship titles, the SC Turbine Erfurt was the most successful team in these championships.

The 23-year-old Martina Steuk ensured the sporting climax by equalizing the indoor world best time in the 800-meter run. Gabriele Riemann ensured a new GDR indoor record in the 3000 meter run.

On January 23rd and 24th , the all-rounder Anke Vater set a new GDR indoor pentathlon performance.
