GDR indoor athletics championships 1981

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hildegard Ullrich won the championship title over 800 meters.

The GDR indoor athletics championships were held for the 18th time in 1981 and took place from February 14th to 15th in the Senftenberg sports hall Aktivist , in which the champions were determined in 26 disciplines (15 men / 11 women). For the first time, the 3,000-meter run was on the women's agenda.

In the men's category, three athletes ( Kunze (5000 m), Munkelt (60 m hurdles) and Weber (staff)) managed to defend their title from the previous year, which in the women's category was one athlete ( Slupianek (ball)). With four championship titles, SC Dynamo Berlin was the most successful team in these championships.

The 20-year-old Sören Schlegel took care of the sporting highlights with the new indoor world record over 100 yards and Marita Koch with the equalization of the European indoor record of Marlies Göhr in the 60-meter run.
