The Dumel is a 720.5  m above sea level. NHN high elevation of the Winterberg highlands in the Rothaar Mountains . It is located near Winterberg in the North Rhine-Westphalian Hochsauerlandkreis .

The Dumel rises in the Hochsauerland in the north of the Rothaargebirge in the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge nature park . Its summit is 1.4 km north-northeast of the center of the Winterberg town center. To the east its landscape slopes down towards Elkeringhausen . His neighbor surveys which includes stallion head ( 667.5  m ) to the north, the Ruhr head ( 695.7  m ) to the northeast, the Alte Grimme ( 754.9  m ) in the east-southeast, the Kreuzberg ( 715.7  m ) to the south, Herrloh ( 732.9  m ) in the southwest and an elevation on the Gewann Lieth ( 722.7  m ) in the northwest. history

Heidenstrasse

The Heidenstrasse, which once ran from Leipzig through Kassel and through the Rothaargebirge to Cologne , was a former military and trade route leading over the elevation . Once he was in the system of the ways of the pilgrims ( Jakobswege ; Jakobuswege ) also pilgrims away to Santiago de Compostela (Spain); it is currently used partly as a hiking trail.
