The Dumel is a 720.5 m above sea level. NHN high elevation of the Winterberg highlands in the Rothaar Mountains . It is located near Winterberg in the North Rhine-Westphalian Hochsauerlandkreis .

location
The Dumel rises in the Hochsauerland in the north of the Rothaargebirge in the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge nature park . Its summit is 1.4 km north-northeast of the center of the Winterberg town center. To the east its landscape slopes down towards Elkeringhausen . On the summit region and on the northern flank of the Dumel there are parts of the nature reserve Bergwiesen bei Winterberg ( CDDA -Nr. 389654; designated 2008; 1.38 km² ), which is part of the fauna-flora-habitat- area Bergwiesen bei Winterberg (FFH No. 4717-305; 4.87 km²). history
Heidenstrasse
The Heidenstrasse, which once ran from Leipzig through Kassel and through the Rothaargebirge to Cologne , was a former military and trade route leading over the elevation . Once he was in the system of the ways of the pilgrims ( Jakobswege ; Jakobuswege ) also pilgrims away to Santiago de Compostela (Spain); it is currently used partly as a hiking trail. Traffic and walking
