Dwars door Vlaanderen
The cycle race Dwars door Vlaanderen (Eng. Across Flanders ) is a one-day race through the Belgian region of Flanders .
From 2013 to 2016 the semi-classic was classified in the highest category of the UCI Europe Tour . The competition was added to the UCI WorldTour calendar starting with the 2017 season .
The destination is in the West Flanders town of Waregem . Until 1999 the race was called across Belgium ( Dwars door België ).
For a few years the race was the start of a series of different Flemish cycling races that take place from late March to early April. These include the E3 Harelbeke , Gent – Wevelgem , the Tour of Flanders and the Scheldt price . Since 2018, Dwars door Vlaanderen has been held on the Wednesday before the Tour of Flanders. The race shares the typical short climbs Hellingen and cobblestone passages with the Tour of Flanders .
