European Cup Winners' Cup (handball) 1997/98
In the EHF European Cup Winners' Cup 1997/98 , 33 handball club teams took part, which had qualified for the competition in their home countries in the previous season in the cup competition. It was the 23rd edition of the European Cup Winners' Cup. The defending champion was the Spanish club Elgorriaga Bidasoa . The cup games began on September 14, 1997 and ended with the second final game on April 25, 1998. In the final, the Spanish representative Cantabria Santander prevailed against the German club HSG Dutenhofen / Münchholzhausen .
mode
The competition started with one game in one elimination round. The winners advanced to the sixteenth finals, in which other, higher ranked teams entered. All rounds including the final were carried out in a knockout system with a return leg. The winner of the final was the European Cup Winners' Cup of the 1997/1998 season.
