Electric train from Voss to Stalheim
The Electric Railway Voss – Stalheim was a planned Norwegian tram route from Voss to Stalheim .
history
In 1908 the Storting decided to build a branch line to the Bergensbane , which should lead from Myrdal to Flåm .
In the run-up, various plans existed between 1893 and 1903, with different routes being examined.
A Voss – Stalheim– Gudvangen cog railway , which followed the original postal route from 1620, was seen as a feasible alternative.
A tram in Flåmsdalen , supplemented with a cable car up to Myrdal, was also considered because it seemed the cheapest solution. The cost was estimated at 800,000 crowns . Norges Statsbaner pointed out that the light vehicles would not be enough to cope with the snow in winter. A traffic volume of 22,000 passengers per year was estimated for the route.
Jens Sigfred Hopstock , an engineer from Bergen (1853–1924), who had applied for a concession for a private Voss – Gudvangen railway in 1885 , designed this electrified railway line in 1895. On June 5, 1895, there was an invitation to subscribe for shares for Aktieskelskabet Voss-Stalheim, Elektriske Jernbane . On September 12, 1895, the license application for the construction and operation of the railway line from Vossevangen to Stalheim was made.
The project was never realized.
