Hell – Sunnanbanen is the old name for the first part of the Nordlandsbanen branching off from the Trondheim – Storlien (Sweden) line at Hell in Stjørdal and describes the route to Snåsavatnet in Steinkjer .

The line was opened in 1902 to Levanger and in 1905 to Sunnan. From 1905 to 1926 Sunnan was the terminus of the later Nordlandsbanen . The further construction was delayed because of differences of opinion in the Innherred district on how to continue the route north. The original plans were to run the route from Sunnan via Beitstad to Namsos , but this was discarded. The route via Snåsa was chosen, while Namsosbanen was built as a branch line from Grong .
