The Askim – Solbergfoss ( Norwegian : Solbergfossbanen ) railway was a 7.9-kilometer branch line of the Indre Østfoldbanen in Viken in Norway . It led from Askim to the Solbergfoss power station .
history
The route was built by the city of Christiania and completed in 1917. It was built to transport building materials for the construction of the Solbergfoss power station, which was built from 1913 to 1924. The line was used for freight traffic during the construction period and then until 1937. Passenger traffic was started independently in 1920 and maintained until the line was closed in 1964. Usage today
The embankment was cleared and is now largely a hiking and cycling path. The turntable in Askim is still partially preserved. Two rail buses named Gamla and Padda are looked after by the Norsk Jernbaneklubb .
