The Trofeo TIM ( German TIM trophy ) was an annual football tournament in preparation for the season from 2001 to 2016, originally with the three top Italian clubs AC Milan , Juventus Turin and Inter Milan . The record winner with eight tournament successes is Inter Milan. They are followed by AC Milan with five wins and Juventus Turin, US Sassuolo Calcio and Celta Vigo with one success.
In 2013 and 2014, Inter Milan decided not to take part in the tournament. US Sassuolo Calcio, who was promoted to Serie A 2013/14 , took the free place . The debutant won the Trofeo TIM at its premiere . In 2015 Inter returned to replace Juventus Turin. In 2016, a foreign team took part in the tournament for the first time. The Spanish club Celta Vigo competed against AC and Sassuolo Calcio on August 10 at the MAPEI Stadium - Città del Tricolore in Reggio nell'Emilia and won the tournament.
There was no short tournament in 2017. The tournament was also canceled in 2018.
Half-time, 45 minutes, were played in three games. Each team played a full 90 minute game. In the event of a tie, a game was decided by a penalty shoot-out . After the first game, the third team competed first against the loser and then against the winner of the first game.
In the event of a tie between two teams, the direct comparison decided. In the event of a tie between the three clubs, first the goal difference and then the goals scored (in regular time) were consulted. If no decision had been made, the lowest average age of the players on each team counted.

Venues
The three games of each tournament were played in a stadium. Over the years the stadiums changed, mostly playing on a neutral pitch. Most recently, between 2013 and 2016, the MAPEI Stadium - Città del Tricolore in Reggio nell'Emilia hosted the tournament.
