The railway line Østmorksaga – Fjellhamar ( Norwegian Losbylinja or Losbylinna ) was a six kilometer long railway line in Viken in Norway . It led from Østmorksaga (Vasshjulet) near Losby to Fjellhamar in the municipality of Lørenskog on the Hovedbane .

history

The line was laid out in 1861 to make it easier to transport wood from the sawmills in Sagdalen to the main line. Before the railway was built, timber was transported by horse and cart, but also partly by rafts across the Losbyelva . From 1861 to 1885, steam locomotives were used by the Hovedbane for transportation. However, it was too expensive to keep the route in good condition for locomotive operation, so horses were once again used to transport the freight cars. However, the Hovedbane freight cars were used until 1900.

In 1914 a motor trolley was used to transport the freight cars. This draisine had no brakes and several accidents happened on the track. The line was closed in 1940/41. In World War II , the Germans removed the rails during the occupation .

Usage today

Today there is a path on part of the Losbylinja ( 59.91 °  N , 10.98 °  E ). This trail between Sørli and Losby has been used as a touring, ski and mountain bike route since the 1960s. The municipality of Lørenskog expanded the path between 2006 and 2008 and provided it with floodlights. It connects the community center with Losby bruk and Gårdskafe. The route is suitable for hiking, jogging and cycling in summer and skiing in winter.

Composer Trond Granlund wrote a song entitled Losbylinja which was released on his album Østkandfolk .
