Haukelibans
Haukelibanen is a projected railway network between Oslo , Skien , Bergen , Haugesund and Stavanger via Haukeli . The line is part of a large high-speed network called Haukelinettet , which includes new lines in Vestfold between Grenland and Kristiansand and between Stavanger and Egersund, as well as the Dovrenettet and lines towards Gothenburg and Stockholm .
Planning
The joint stock company Norsk Bane AS and its predecessor companies have been working on the design of the Haukelibane since 1991 . By Jernbaneverket and the state, there was until 2007 no further plans for new routes in the area. The plans for the Haukelibane were drawn up together with Deutsche Bahn in 2008.
Haukelibane is a route for freight and passenger traffic. The travel times between Bergen and Oslo are 2:25 hours, between Stavanger and Oslo 2:25 hours, between Bergen and Stavanger 1:35 hours, between Haugesund and Oslo 2:05 hours, between Skien and Oslo one hour and between Kristiansand and Oslo 1:50 hours provided. These travel times contain seven to eight stops, depending on the departure time. These are stations with a maximum distance of 35 km to each other, which are served with at least one departure per hour and direction, including Odda , Sauda , Kårstø and Notodden .
The travel times for heavy freight trains between eastern and western Norway are estimated to be around four hours during the day, with shorter travel times at night. Each freight train should be able to take over 80 trucks. Parcels are to be transported with the passenger trains.
Under these conditions, Norsk Bane AS expects a reduction in air traffic on these relevant routes of 62% in the third year of operation. That would correspond to 3.7 million travelers when it opened in 2015. Revenue of 1.98 billion crowns would be lost for air traffic , which would correspond to 44% of the total income of 4.47 billion crowns in the third year of operation. The freight revenue is expected to reach 1.53 billion crowns in the third year of operation.
The train operation on the Haukelibane and the adjoining routes is expected to generate positive operating results in both freight and passenger transport due to the high speeds and thus increased attractiveness for time-sensitive customers. The total cost of ownership is estimated at 2.94 billion crowns, while sales are expected to reach 6.00 billion crowns. The project has a preliminary budget of 53.3 billion, excluding VAT and financing costs during the construction period. There are plans to integrate parallel infrastructure, including a gas pipeline , CO 2 recirculation, fiber optic cables and local electricity supply .
According to an evaluation carried out in 2007, a railway line with a similar orientation as Haukelibane alone would cost 210 billion crowns.
Planning forum
Numerous authorities and organizations are participating in the preliminary planning for the implementation of the project. After a transition phase in Telemark, Hordaland and Rogaland, at the end of 2014 76 members, including 21 municipalities and 55 authorities, were united in the Lyntogforum Vestlandsbanen .
Reviews
Critics of the project believe that existing rail lines between Bergen and Oslo via Voss and Hallingdal and between Stavanger and Oslo via Kristiansand should be upgraded. Conservationists had indicated that a new bridge would have to be built over the Hardangerfjord for the project . After the Hardangerbrua was built , this argument lost weight.
