The railway line Loenga – Alnabru (Norwegian Loenga – Alnabrulinjen ) is a 7.3 km long railway line in Norway . It runs from Loenga train station to the Alanbruterminalen freight yard . 700 meters of the line are double-tracked.

history

The route opened in 1907 is used for freight traffic in Oslo . It connects Østfoldbanen and Hovedbanen without the detour via Oslo Sentralstasjon . The route follows the course of the Alnaelv , which has been partially piped since 1922, from Loenga to Alnabru. In Lodalen the route runs to Alnabru next to the Hovedbane and from Lodalen to Etterstad next to the Gjøvikbane . The line is single-track, but there is room for a later second track.

The freight railway is one of the three tracks along the northern slope of the Lodalen, it is closest to the local development. As far as Kværnerbyen, the line is lower than the other tracks and runs at the same level to the Nygårdskollen block station in Øvre Lodalen. Then it goes south and east past Etterstad and further past Bryn and Breivoll together with the Hovedbanen. In contrast to the Alnabru – Grefsen freight train line, the line is not equipped for passenger transport.

Around 20 freight trains run on the route every day.

Train stations

Loenga station with a station building and platforms is located on the freight train route . However, the station is only a freight yard . In the Oslo-Kværner district there was Kværner station between 1957 and 1977 , from which, in addition to passenger traffic, goods traffic on Gjøvikbane was handled. Bryn is served by the Loenga – Alnabru route for goods traffic and by the Hovedbane for passenger traffic. The station is still in operation, but without staff. Alnabru was opened in 1902 and used to be the terminus of the freight train route. The station was previously used for passenger traffic and closed in 1971.

Railway accident at Sjursøya

On 24 March 2010, a rolling freight train of CargoNet with 16 freight cars from Alnabru to the harbor railway track Sjursøya . The cars broke through a building, killing three people and seriously injuring four.

future

In connection with Follobanen , which is to be built by 2020/21, the preparatory work for the possible future Bryndiagonal is being carried out. In the plans of the railway administration ( Jernbaneverket ) it says for Breivoll / Smalvolle: " Bryndiagonalen should be planned at the same time as the new double-track route to Ski." The Bryndiagonale should meet the Hovedbane in the area of Fyrstikkbakken / Tvetenveien . When the Bryndiagonal is completed, the freight train route will be relieved.
