Hafslundbanen is a closed Norwegian private works railway . It ran between the Hafslund district of Sarpsborg and the port of Sundløkka on the Glomma . Hafslundbanen was a branch line to the Indre Østfoldbane and was opened on March 20, 1898. At that time it was the first electric standard-gauge railway line in Norway.
history
The route was used by Hafslund Smelteverk for transport to the factory premises and to Sundløkka harbor. The line was electrified with 600 V DC. The two-kilometer route from the plant to the port was closed in 1967 after being destroyed by floods.
The rest of the route was closed in 1973 in connection with the construction of the Sandesund Bridge .
At the same time, a new, non-electrified section between the western Østfoldbane with a branch south of the Hafslund kirke and the iron and steel works that was in operation until the early 1980s was put into operation.
This track was demolished in 2001. The H 3 locomotive has been preserved on the Krøderbane .
