Ilsvikbanen was a Norwegian railway line that branched off the Dovrebane and led into the industrial area of Fagervika . The route was used, among other things, for the transport of pyrite and zinc from the Killingdal mine in Holtålen via the Rørosbanen to the ore processing plant and the dispatch facility in Fagervika from 1953 until the mine was closed in 1986. In addition, the pier in Ila and various companies in Ilsvika and Fagervika were served via the route.
history
The route was in two parts:
The Ilasporet from Trondheim branched off to Fagervika in front of the Skansen train station. It was about 2.3 kilometers long and was built in 1884. The route ran along the industrial area of Nedre Ila and past the Trondheim grain silos and the Ila Pier . There the route met the Steinbergsporet coming from Marienborg . The two lines met east of the reserve power station in Ilsvika, from where they led together to Fagervika.
The Steinbergsporet from Marienborg to Fagervika was about 1.2 kilometers long and was created during the Second World War . The route led through the Steinberget Tunnel (612 meters) and the Møllehaugen Tunnel (90 meters) before it met the Ilasporet at the level of the reserve power station in Ilsvika. Both sections of the route were closed in autumn 1995 and completely dismantled. Between 2004 and 2010, Trondheim's northern relief road was built on the planum .
The areas around the former route were cleaned by the city of Trondheim in April / May 2010 with a view to new local recreation areas due to heavy pollution with heavy metals . There are still around 100 meters of track in the tank farm in Fagervika, the former railway line from Ilsvika to Fagervika is now a pedestrian and cycle path.
