Värmlandsbanan to Stockholm

The Kongsvingerbane ( German  Kongsvingerbahn ) is a railway line in Norway . It leads from Lillestrøm to Kongsvinger .

history

The line was opened on October 3, 1862, making it Norway's oldest standard-gauge railway .

With the Grensebane ( German  border railway ), which is part of the Kongsvingerbane and opened on November 4, 1865 between Kongsvinger and Riksgrensen, it is further linked to the Swedish railway network via the Furumoen border crossing near Charlottenberg . The Solørbane branches off to Elverum at Kongsvinger station .

The line is 115 km long with the Grensebane and was electrified on June 15, 1951. The Lillestrøm – Kongsvinger section was converted to remote control on May 21, 1966, the section between Kongsvinger and Riksgrensen on April 6, 1967. The trial operation with Automatic Train Control (DATC) was introduced between Lillestrøm and Magnor on January 16, 1984 on a trial basis and permanently from October 8, 1984. The remaining section to Riksgrensen followed on October 1, 1986.

The main stops along the Kongsvingerbane are Fetsund , Sørumsand, Årnes, Skarnes and Kongsvinger. Local trains run from Oslo by Norges Statsbaner to Kongsvinger, trains from Värmlandstrafik to Karlstad and trains from SJ to Stockholm . In the past, trains operated by Linx and Kungspilen also ran.

Oslo – Stockholm high-speed line

For the connection from Oslo to Stockholm, plans are Template: future / in 5 yearsin progress that include a new railway line from Lilleström via Bjørkelangen to Arvika in Sweden . This double-track line would result in a shortening of the current 155 km via Kongsvinger to 98 km in the future.
