The village is located in the northern urban area on the left bank of the Zenn . The Main-Danube Canal leads past the eastern edge of the village. The Steingäßlein corridor area borders on the northwest. A community road runs to Vach to the FÜs 1 district road (0.7 km to the northeast). history

The place was first mentioned in 1276 as "Flechsdorf". The defining word of the place name can be the Old High German word "flëch" (area, place, place) or the family name Fleck. In 1326, the Lords of Hohenlohe-Brauneck and the Gründlach lordship also sold the Flexdorf mill to the Nuremberg burgraves. From 1342 the village came into the possession of Nuremberg citizens and foundations, including the Heilig-Geist-Spital and the Landalmosenamt.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 7 properties in Flexdorf. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach city bailiff Langenzenn . The landlords were the imperial city of Nuremberg : Landesalmosenamt (1 courtyard, 1 mill), Spitalamt (2 courtyards) and the Nuremberg owners of Haller (1 estate), von Kreß (1 estate) and von Oelhafen (1 estate). The landlords alternated between ruling the village and the community .

As part of the community edict, Flexdorf was assigned to the Vach tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community Vach , which was founded in the same year .

As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , Flexdorf became a district of the city of Fürth on July 1, 1972.
