Unterfarrnbach (colloquially: "Faʳnbach") is a district of the independent city of Fürth in Middle Franconia .

geography

The village is located three kilometers northwest of the historic center of Fürth in the valley of the Farrnbach . The river separates the old, agricultural center in the north from the new development areas to the south, which cover an area of around 1.6 km². To the north of the village is the hill ( 49 ° 31 ′  N , 10 ° 58 ′  E ) of the former garbage dump , which is now greened and available as a walking area. There is a golf course at the foot of the mountain .

Unterfarrnbach borders in the north on Atzenhof , in the east on Schwand and in the south on the Hardhöhe . In addition, the Hintere Straße, which acts as a bridge at the port of Fürth over the Main-Danube Canal , forms the transition from Unterfarrnbach to the western Burgfarrnbach .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1303 as "Nidern Farhembach", when the Nuremberg burgrave Konrad ceded the Hofmark Fürth, including Atzenhof, to the cathedral chapter in Bamberg. The place name is derived from the name of the body of water, the defining word of which is either fern or bullock and refers to a peculiarity of the brook. On May 29, 1349, the Bamberg Bishop Friedrich I von Hohenlohe raised St. Johannis in Burgfarrnbach to a parish and assigned it to “inferiori Varenbach”.

At the end of the 18th century there were 43 properties in Unterfarrnbach. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach city bailiff Langenzenn . The village and township government had the bambergische Dompropsteiamt Fürth held. The landlords were the Dompropsteiamt Fürth (3 courtyards, 9 half courtyards, 4 estates, 12 estates, 10 houses) and the Nuremberg owners von Haller (3 estates) and von Imhoff (2 estates).

As part of the municipal edict , the Unterfarrnbach tax district was formed in 1808 , to which the towns of Atzenhof and Bremenstall belonged. In the same year the rural community was founded, which was congruent with the tax district. In administration and jurisdiction it was subordinate to the Regional Court of Nuremberg and in financial administration to the Fürth Rent Office . In voluntary jurisdiction, 1 property was subject to the Buch Patrimonial Court until 1812 and from 1822 to 1835 and 3 properties to the Nemsdorf Patrimonial Court from 1823 to 1835 . In 1811 the Stadelhof was built in the municipality . From 1862 Unterfarrnbach was administered by the Fürth district office. In 1862 jurisdiction was transferred to the Fürth District Court , and since 1880 it has been with the Fürth District Court . The community had an area of 8.436 km².

Historical maps show "Unter Farrnbach" in the 1860s as a street village with around thirty hearths. From 1850 the route of the Ludwigs-Nord-Süd-Bahn swiveled south- east of the village without stopping there.

On January 1, 1918 Unterfarrnbach was incorporated into the city of Fürth together with Atzenhof. Since the reorganization of the Fürth urban area, decided in 1996, Unterfarrnbach is the statistical district 10 and belongs to the city district West, has an area of 4.586 km² and 4862 inhabitants (status 2004). The districts were further restructured in summer 2016.
