Friedrich-Karl Sandmann

Friedrich-Karl Sandmann (born July 2, 1948 ) is a German publisher .

Life

Sandmann studied business administration and worked for ten years at Dr. Oetker GmbH , most recently as Marketing Manager. In 1984 he founded the Zabert Sandmann Verlag together with the photographer Arnold Zabert . After several restructurings, he finally sold his shares to Edel SE in 2014 .

Sandmann introduced the principle of step-by-step illustration of the cooking recipes in the cookbooks and thus became one of the most important mediators of cooking. Together with Zabert he developed the series of cookbooks with the spoon , the titles of which have been sold over six million times worldwide. This series also includes her first work, Cooking - The New Large School , one of the most widely read cookbooks, which has sold more than three million times worldwide.

Sandmann managed early on to tie well-known German top chefs to the publishing house. He also published wine books by Wolfgang Junglas and Jens Priewe , medical titles by Klaus Diedrich , Werner Franke , Dietrich Grönemeyer , Udo Ludwig , Christa Maar , Johannes Gottfried Mayer , Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt , Franziska Rubin , Nicola Sautter , Oliver Schmidtlein , Christine Theiss , Petra Thorbrietz , Bernhard Uehleke , Johannes Weingart and Jürgen Zulley as well as books by Boris Becker , Louis Begley , Maximilian Dorner , Ibrahim Evsan , Hildegard Hamm-Brücher , Sven Hannawald , Dana Horáková , Sabine Kuegler and Arno Stern .

In 2003, Sandmann was named publisher of the year by the book market magazine .

Between 2004 and 2015, Friedrich-Karl Sandmann cooperated with his wife Elisabeth's publishing house ( Elisabeth Sandmann Verlag ). Both publishers shared the same office.
