GW Ingersoll

GW Ingersoll actually George Washington Ingersoll (born August 20, 1803 in New Gloucester , Massachusetts , † March 5, 1860 in Bangor , Maine ) was an American lawyer and politician who was Maine Attorney General until his death in 1860 .

Life

GW Ingersoll was born in 1803 in New Gloucester in what is now Maine, the son of Nathaniel Ingersoll (1753-1834) and Sarah Haskell (1764-1844).

Ingersoll worked as a lawyer in Bangor. He was a member of the Whig Party from 1854 to 1855 in the Maine House of Representatives and Maine State Attorney General in 1860.

Ingersoll was married to Henrietta Crosby. He died of pneumonia in Bangor on March 5, 1860 while in office. His grave is in Mount Hope Cemetery in Bangor.
