Frank E. Hancock

Frank Ellis Hancock (born June 19, 1923 in York, York County , Maine , † December 26, 1988 ibid) was an American lawyer and politician who was Maine Attorney General from 1959 to 1964 .

Life

Frank E. Hancock was born to William P. Hancock (1898–1945) and Hazel Ellen Ellis Hancock (1899–1991). He attended Colby College in Waterville and then studied at Boston University Law School. After completing his studies and admission to the bar, Hancock opened a law firm in Ogunquit , a town north of York, in 1950 .

As a member of the Republican Party , he was Maine Attorney General from 1959 to 1964.

Hancock was President of the Board of Trustees at York Hospital, to which he and his wife were very attached. Since his death, a golf tournament has been held regularly in his name for the benefit of the hospital.

Frank E. Hancock was married to Kathleen Matteo Hancock (1924-2015); they have one son and two daughters. .
He died in York in December 1988 at the age of 65. His grave is in First Parish Cemetery in York Village.
