Clyde R. Chapman

Clyde R. Chapman (born July 23, 1889 in Fairfield , Maine , † March 6, 1978 in Belfast , Maine) was an American lawyer and politician who was Maine Attorney General from 1933 to 1936 .

Life

Clyde Raymond Chapman was born the son of George Mansur Chapman (1862-1943) and Laura Evelyn Keene Chapman (1865-1944) in Fairfield. He graduated from Bowdoin College in 1912 and from Maine Law School, Bangor in 1917. He was admitted to the bar in 1918. He then worked as a lawyer.

He was a Judge in the Court of Belfast, Maine from 1920 to 1924 and Attorney of Waldo County from 1925 to 1933 . As a member of the Republican Party , he was a member of the Maine Republican State Committee and Clerk of the House of Representatives from Maine in 1928 . From 1933 to 1936, Chapman was Maine Attorney General.

Chapman was a Unitarian and a member of the Freemasons , Lions Club and Rotary Club .

Clyde R. Chapman was married to Eva May Humphrey Chapman (1900-1995) since 1919. There is a son from this marriage. Chapman died in Belfast on March 6, 1978. His grave is in Maplewood Cemetery in Fairfield, Maine.
