Michael E. Carpenter

Michael E. Carpenter (born September 3, 1947 ) is an American attorney and politician who was Maine Attorney General from 1991 to 1995 .

Life

Michael E. Carpenter studied at the University of Maine, where he earned a bachelor's degree in psychology in 1969 , then studied at the University of Maine School of Law, where he graduated in 1983.

Carpenter took part in the Vietnam War and received two bronze stars for his service. He runs a law firm in Houlton , Maine.

As a member of the Democratic Party , he was a member of the Maine House of Representatives from 1975 to 1976 and a member of the Maine Senate from 1977 to 1986 . From 1991 to 1995 he was Maine Attorney General. In 2014 Carpenter ran again for a seat in the Maine Senate, but was defeated by the Republican Party candidate Michael Willette.

Carpenter is married to Joanne Carpenter and the couple had three children. In addition to the law firm, the family offers carriage rides in Acadia National Park .
