Richard J. Dubord

Richard J. Dubord (born November 17, 1921 in Waterville , Maine , † January 2, 1970 in Boston , Massachusetts ) was an American lawyer and politician who was Maine Attorney General from 1965 to 1966 .

Life

Richard J. Dubord was born in Waterville, Maine to F. Harold DuBord (1891–1964) and Blanche DuBord (1895–1979). His father was a judge on the Maine Supreme Judicial Court .

Dubord took part in World War II and studied at Boston University Law School after the war. He worked in his father's law firm and after his death in 1964 entered into a partnership with Robert A. Maden.

As a member of the Democratic Party , he was mayor of Waterville from 1952 to 1955, delegate to the Democratic National Convention of Maine in 1952, 1956 and 1964, member of the Democratic National Committee of Maine in 1963, and Maine Attorney General from 1965 to 1966. In 1962 he ran for governor of Maine, but was defeated by Republican John Hathaway Reed .

He was married to Evelyn Parnell (1921-2004), an artist. They had two sons and a daughter. Dubord died in a Boston hospital on January 2, 1970. He was there to be operated on on a ruptured blood vessel in his head. His grave is in the Saint Francis Catholic Cemetery in Waterville.
