John S. Abbott

John Stevens Abbott (born January 6, 1807 in Temple , Massachusetts , † June 16, 1881 in Boston , Massachusetts) was an American lawyer and politician who was Maine Attorney General from 1849 to 1852 .

John Stevens Abbott was born in Temple in what is now Maine in 1807 . He attended Bowdoin College and graduated from there in 1927.

As a member of the Republican Party , he was an MP in the Maine House of Representatives and, in 1855, Maine Attorney General.

He was on the board of directors (overseer) of Bowdoin College.

In 1860 he moved to Boston where he died in 1881.

His home in Norridgewock is now a listed building and is on the National Register of Historic Places under number 82000780. The house now houses the Norridgewock Free Public Library.
