The Girabola 2019/20 is the 42nd season of the Girabola , the highest Angolan league for football men. 16 teams take part, each competing against each other twice. The season started on August 16, 2019 and will end with the last game of the 30th matchday, which is scheduled for April 19, 2020.

The CD Primeiro de Agosto from the capital Luanda competes as defending champion and reigning winner of the Angolan Cup .

Sport Lubango e Benfica , who were actually qualified as promoters, withdrew their participation in the first division for financial reasons. As a result, the club was banned from the Angolan Football Association for two years and fined 1 million kwanzas . The Wiliete SC from Benguela moved up for him in the first division.

In the course of 2019, the Primeiro de Maio association fell into a deep crisis. At the end of December 2019, the club's president Rui Araújo was dismissed from the club's general assembly after he had only become club president on July 16, 2019, after 38 years as vice-president. At the time, Maio was in 15th place with eight points and only one win, shortly afterwards the club was disqualified by the association and all of its games were canceled.
