It borders in the north on the municipality of Sonnenberg and the town of Gransee , in the east on the district of Großmutz , in the south on the districts of Hoppenrade and Grieben and in the west on the community of Vielitzsee in the district of Ostprignitz-Ruppin . In the south is the Harenzacken nature reserve .

history

Glambeck was first mentioned in 1348 as Glambeke . The name of the place goes back to the Slavic word glamb which means deep and indicates a deep standing water nearby. In the following years the village fell into desolation . Around 1530 Glambeck came to the Cistercian convent in Lindow . After the secularization of the monastery, it belonged to the lordly offices of Lindow (until 1765), Friedrichsthal (until 1819) and Alt Ruppin (until 1872) until the abolition of the manorial rule . In 1574 there was a Schulzengut in Glambeck . The desert field mark was used by farmers from surrounding villages. In 1690 the Feldmark von Glambeck was settled with families from Switzerland . In the course of this, a reformed church was built.

In 1800 there was a jug in Glambeck . In 1843 Glambeck had the structure of a street village . In 1900 Glambeck formed a rural community with an area of 780 hectares in the Ruppin district of the Brandenburg province . In 1900/01 a new church was built and inaugurated in the neo-Gothic brick style. After the Second World War , 89 hectares of land was divided up in the Soviet occupation zone in 1946 as part of the land reform . Since the administrative reform of 1952 Glambeck belonged to the circle Gransee the district Potsdam . The first agricultural production cooperative was founded in 1953, and another followed.

From 1992 to 1997 the municipality of Glambeck was administered by the Löwenberg office and in 1993 became part of the new Oberhavel district . On December 31, 1997, the office of Löwenberg was dissolved and Glambeck merged with nine other communities to form the new community of Löwenberger Land. Since then, Glambeck has formed a district.

Trivia

Glambeck gained nationwide fame in the summer slump of July 2016 through the white stork Ronny, known as the "problem stork " (see problem bear ) , who tends to attack the reflection he sees on window panes and dark car paint with his beak. Residents then opted for desperate measures such as parking cars in garages instead of outdoors and hanging sheets in front of the windows. The behavior of the animal can be explained with extreme competitive behavior during courtship vis-à-vis other male storks, which it believes to recognize in reflective surfaces . At the end of August, Ronny left Glambeck, where he had raged since mid-May. At the end of April 2017, however, the stork reappeared in the village. This time no attacks were known, which was due to the fact that Ronny had found a partner and, unlike the previous year, also took care of her. He also limped clearly.
