Gravina (wine)
The name Gravina DOC stands for red , rosé and white wines from the southern Italian province of Bari in the Apulia region . Sometimes they are also expanded as sparkling wine ( Spumante ) or passito . The wines have had a "protected designation of origin" ( Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC) since 1983 , the last update of which was published on March 7, 2014.
Growing area
Cultivation is permitted within the province of Bari in the municipalities of Gravina di Puglia and Poggiorsini and in parts of the municipalities of Altamura and Spinazzola .
generation
The appellation "Gravina DOC" provides for the following types of wine and their grape varieties :
- Gravina bianco and Gravina Spumante : must consist of at least 50% Greco grape variety ; a maximum of 20% Malvasia Bianca and / or Bianca Lunga and a maximum of 30% Fiano , Verdeca , Bianco d'Alessano and Chardonnay may be added.
- Gravina rosso and Gravina rosato : must consist of at least 40% Montepulciano grapes and at least 20% Primitivo ; a maximum of 30% Aglianico , Uva di Troia , Merlot and / or Cabernet Sauvignon may be added.
- Gravina Passito: Must be 100% Malvasia .
