The Grillo Park is in front of the Rathaus Oberhausen located park in downtown Oberhausen .
Directly in front of the western front of the town hall and connected to it via outside stairs and terraces, the park has shown its original, strictly geometric structures as the “garden of modernity” since 2003. It was designed in this form in 1930 together with the town hall and reflects its linear and rectangular shapes.
In 1887, the entrepreneur Wilhelm Theodor Grillo had a wild, romantic, winding garden with a pond built on a former gravel and sand pit. After his death in 1889, the gardens were sold to the factory owner Terlinden, who in 1904 sold them to the city of Oberhausen for 144,000 marks.
