Großschönau is a market town with 1209 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Gmünd district in Lower Austria .
geography
Großschönau is located in the western Waldviertel in Lower Austria on Greiner Straße B 119, which leads from Weitra via Groß-Gerungs to Grein . The area of the market town covers 41.95 km². 37.01 percent of the area is forested.
