Salez

Salez is its own local congregation (President: Hansueli Dütschler, Salez) with around 650 residents and, together with the village of Haag, formed the Salez-Haag parish until December 31, 2014. The village is on the Rhine (or a few hundred meters away). Salez has a small Protestant church and the Löwen inn, a late medieval inn. The historic Zehntenhaus, whose origins go back to the 16th and early 17th centuries, is located near the Salez-Sennwald train station. The agricultural center Salez of the canton of St.Gallen and the cantonal prison Saxerriet are located in the municipality . In the direction of Sennwald, the remains of Forstegg Castle rise behind the hamlet of Schlossfeld. The former armory from the early 17th century is still well preserved today. economy

The company VAT AG in Haag is the largest employer in the community, headquartered in Hague and is a leader in the Vakkuumventiltechnik. Their products are mainly used in semiconductor manufacturing. With the company Brusa Elektronik AG in Sennwald, a pioneer of electric vehicle technology is also based in the community, which today mainly supplies large automotive groups with power electronics for electric vehicles. Another major employer with headquarters in Haag is Sulzer Mixpac AG, a 100% subsidiary of the Sulzer Group. This manufactures systems for mixing, dosing and applying single and multi-component dental materials. Kybun AG, the company owned by the Eastern Swiss shoe pioneer Karl Müller , has been manufacturing some of its shoes in Sennwald since 2011. The settlement of these internationally very successful companies has helped make the municipality one of the most tax-efficient in the canton of St Gallen .

education

The upper level for the entire Sennwald political community is located in Salez. The school building was expanded and rebuilt in 1993/94. Salez Primary School is located in the same building.

Until the end of 2004, each village formed its own school community. In addition, there was a joint school community for the upper level across all five villages. On January 1, 2005, these school communities were merged. It includes around 700 students of all school levels and 70 teachers.

The Agricultural School is also located in Salez and offers various courses for agricultural professions.

Churches

The majority of the residents of the Political Community of Sennwald are either Reformed or Catholic . There are three reformed church buildings (in Salez, Sax and Sennwald) and a Catholic church (between Sennwald and Frümsen) in the municipality . Therefore, up to December 31, 2014, there were also three different Reformed parishes within the Sennwald political community: Salez-Haag, Sax-Frümsen and Sennwald-Lienz-Rüthi (with Lienz SG and Rüthi ). These three parishes joined forces on January 1st, 2015 to form the Evangelical Reformed Parish Sennwald (Parish President: Michael Berger, Salez). The Catholic parish is congruent with the political parish and thus includes all five villages. It was founded in 1970 and has been part of the Werdenberg pastoral care unit since 2005.
