Haldenwang is a municipality in the Swabian district of Günzburg and the seat of the Haldenwang administrative community .

geography

location

Haldenwang is located in the Danube-Iller region at the transition between the Swabian Alb and the Danube landscape . The name is derived from the Old High German words halda (= slope) and wanc (= field).

Community structure

There are five officially named parts of the municipality: the parish villages Haldenwang and Konzenberg , the church villages Eichenhofen and Hafenhofen and the hamlet of Mehrenstetten .

The following districts exist : Eichenhofen, Hafenhofen, Haldenwang and Konzenberg.

history

Until the church is planted

Haldenwang was the seat of an upper and lower court of the Haldenwang rule and belonged to the Barons of Freyberg-Eisenberg since 1525 . With the Rhine Federation Act in 1806, the place became part of the Kingdom of Bavaria and in 1818 became a political municipality through the municipal edict.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1976, the previously independent municipality of Hafenhofen was incorporated . On May 1, 1978 Konzenberg was added.

Population development

Between 1988 and 2018, the municipality grew from 1598 to 1978 by 380 inhabitants or 23.8%.

The community is a member of the Haldenwang administrative community .

Municipal council

The municipal council has twelve members. In the local elections on March 15, 2020 , the distribution of seats was as follows:

  • Haldenwanger Block: 5 seats (36.2%)
  • Free Konzenberg voter block: 4 seats (33.5%)
  • Hafenhofen voter bloc: 2 seats (19.1%)
  • Alliance 90 / The Greens : 1 seat (11.1%)

mayor

Doris Egger (Haldenwanger Block) has been First Mayor since May 1, 2020. This reached 38.8% of four applicants on March 15, 2020 and won the runoff election on March 29, 2020 with 53.0%. Her predecessor from May 1996 to April 2020 was Georg Holzinger (* 1950), who was a joint applicant for the voter block, Haldenwanger block and free voter block in 2014.
