Handball Regional League West 1978/79
The 1978/1979 season of the men's regional handball league was the 9th in its history. A total of 26 teams in a north and a south relay played for the West German championship. The two season winners played for the title of West German Champion 1979 after 24 match days. TUSEM Essen managed this in the final against TuS Derschlag .
Three teams had to relegate to the upper leagues: TSV Altenhagen (Westphalia), Spvgg Andernach (Rhineland-Palatinate), and DJK TB Burtscheid (Lower Rhine).
